All patients of all ages are welcome. We stress prevention in the form of good dental hygiene and good nutrition. Over 90% of dental disease is preventable, therefore, we are going to stress that the patient do everything possible to prevent dental disease. This counseling will include the importance of preventive dentistry’s effect in children and infants. By starting a program of prevention with the infants, we will strive to instill proper dental habits very early in life.
Prevention will usually begin with a good cleaning and x-rays to rule out disease that we can’t detect visually. For those patients who have periodontal (gum) disease, we will sometimes have to do deep cleaning and scaling. Usually this will be done with anesthesia. We can often get the periodontal disease under control in this manner.
Dental decay can be prevented with proper diet, brushing and flossing. Fluoride, applied in the dental office as well as in the form of toothpaste and fluoridated water supply at home, is also helpful in preventing dental disease. At times, we will also place sealants on six-year molars to prevent decay.
ORAL CANCER SCREENING is always included in a thorough examination. Included in the oral cancer screening will be a visual screening of all oral tissues and exposed surfaces, including face and arms. We will continually look for tissue abnormalities, and refer you to the appropriate specialist.
DENTURE IMPLANTS, or mini implants, are often used under a denture, especially a lower denture. This is a procedure that is done at one appointment and will allow the lower denture to snap into place. This is a miracle cure for patients who can’t tolerate a lower denture.

Comprehensive dentistry consists of all areas of dentistry, from simple fillings to complex full mouth restoration with crowns, bridges, root canals and implants.
Children of all ages are always welcome. If we get an opportunity to examine and discuss good habits at an early age, we can prevent future treatment and can develop excellent dental patients.
FILLINGS can either be White or Silver. The location in the mouth and whether moisture can be controlled are some of the determining factors that determine which filling will work in which location. Some fillings also have a longer life expectancy than others.
CROWNS are often used when teeth are badly broken down. These CROWNS can be either white (tooth colored) or Gold. Some materials work better in some areas.
Many of our patients will have missing teeth from previous extractions. These teeth can be replaced by a BRIDGE or a PARTIAL DENTURE. In many instances they can also be replaced with an IMPLANT. There are limits on IMPLANTS due to location and the amount of bone remaining. However, where IMPLANTS can be used, they are an excellent option and are relatively simple to place and restore.
ROOT CANALS are an option if the decay is very deep and into the nerve of the tooth. A ROOT CANAL can save the tooth. The only other option if the nerve is involved is an extraction. ROOT CANALS are relatively simple and painless and often are no more extensive than placing a filling.
Many of our patients will suffer with pain in the area in front of the ear called the TMJ or tempero-mandibular joint. We have over 40 years treating this pain and symptoms. Treatment will vary from using different appliances to observing the problem which sometimes dissipates in a few days.
SNORING may not be a problem for you, but it is a big problem for your partner. We have several types of devices that will eliminate snoring and often will help with sleep apnea.
